Free Legal Aid
LawNoon maintains a free legal aid track alongside our standard case matching, for people who need legal help but cannot afford representation.
Who this is for
- Survivors of domestic violence or gender-based violence
- Victims of violent crime
- Widows and families of deceased servicemen
- Senior citizens facing property or inheritance disputes without family support
- Anyone below the income threshold recognised by their State Legal Services Authority
This list mirrors the categories recognised under India’s Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 for free legal aid eligibility — LawNoon’s track is a supplement alongside statutory aid, not a replacement for it.
How it works
Submit your case through our standard Describe Your Case form and mention that you are seeking legal aid consideration in the description. Our team reviews legal aid requests separately and matches eligible cases to advocates who have volunteered to take on a limited number of pro-bono matters.
What to expect
Pro-bono capacity is limited and matching may take longer than a standard paid case, since it depends on advocate availability for that period. If we’re unable to match your case to a pro-bono advocate, we’ll point you to your nearest District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), which is legally mandated to provide free legal aid to eligible applicants regardless of platform capacity.
A note on honesty
We will not promise a pro-bono match we can’t deliver. If capacity is full when you apply, we’ll say so plainly rather than leave you waiting without an answer.
